John Patrick’s Sports Handicapping
Sports Betting / August 17, 2017

Ok, so this is a book written by someone who clearly has spent A LOT of time inside sports betting circles or at least some place like Vegas. He seems to know what he’s talking about but yet you can’t stop feeling like you’re being conned by a guy you met at Vegas. The book has chapters for every sport and also educates the beginner very well about all the sports betting systems that exist. It starts with few philosophical chapters such as describing the bettor, the how and whats of handicapping, expectations of winning, ‘The Little Three’ and learning to win. Once you are ‘educated’ about general betting, the book dives into the concept of ‘bankroll’. It has nice little chapters on laying out bets, short bankrolls, loss limits, minimizing losses, win goals, accepting your goals, and what a ‘proper’ bankrol should be. Once the bankroll side of things are clearer, the book dives into the meat and bones of handicapping; the knowledge part. The part starts by defining what Knowledge is in sports handicapping and then goes on to explain every part of the industry such as linemakers, bookies and then explains lines, parlays, round robins, flat betting,…

Introduction to Sports Betting
Book Reviews , Sports Betting / August 6, 2017

This is a nice little freebie book on sports betting from IntPicks.com. What sets this book apart from the competition is, that this book is actually written by people who make money of providing stats to people who bet on sports. Usually, we are very skeptical about these kinds of books, but it is a well written little guide that can help you get in the water. It seems to be written very well, and in layman’s language so everybody can understand. It also contains examples of the subjects it covers. The book starts with betting basics, then moves on Football, Basketball, and Baseball. There is a helpful little calendar chapter, and two chapters on betting strategies and money management. Since the book is actually free -well not really actually you need to share your email address to download the free e-book-, it’s a no-brainer. Go get your copy now!

Sports Betting and Bookmaking: An American History
Sports Betting / August 2, 2017

Today’s book is about schooling you on the history of Sports Betting and Book Making. Arne K. Lang chooses not to focus on the usuals in this subject such as ‘rogues’ and various ‘scandals’ that took place, instead he focuses purely as a historian and provides information without baiting for attention. The book starts with Leonard Jerome, and goes on to have an entire chapter on New York’s Racetrack-building Boom. The book also has a chapter on outlaws and big Plungers, and moves on to a funny named chapter ‘The Tax Man Cometh’ and transitions into Pro Football Betting era and ends with the internet era and high tech phenomena such as simulcasting. It is a well designed, beautifully executed book, a great read. We ‘reccomenth’ it! ūüôā

Review:¬†American Casino Guide 2017 Edition This book feels like one of those old Yellow Pages Phonebooks you find on your driveway every year. The feeling you get is ‘Hasn’t the internet made you obsolete?’ but yet you end up finding yourself reaching the book in times of need.¬†Ok, the book has different parts, first part defines games casinos, and the other part has information about casinos, places and includes phone numbers websites and more information. The last part is the coupons part. So, do you need this book? In 2017 you honestly do not need to carry around a book like this when you have your phone with you. You can google all the shit that this book offers, even the coupons I guess. But that being said, if you are one of those people who want to hold a hard copy in the field (field being the Vegas Strip in this situation I guess) this book might be a good addition to your fanny pack. Description (from amazon.com) The 2017 American Casino Guide provides casino-goers with money-saving, detailed information that can be helpful for both seasoned casino veterans, as well as first-time casino visitors. Anyone who is looking to…

The World’s Greatest Blackjack Book
Blackjack , Book Reviews / July 14, 2017

Review:¬†The World’s Greatest Blackjack Book Ok, you kind of know how I usually approach ambitious titles, I honestly think it’s inappropriate to¬†title the book you wrote ‘The World’s Greatest X Book’, I mean even if it is actually the greatest book about that subject. This book though is written by someone who has a Ph.D. on the subject, so it might actually be the best book about the subject. The book starts on a more philosophical tone, and asks questions like Who Pays For the Glitter? Why Play Blackjack and the Losing Frame of Mind and covers both the roads for winning and losing.¬†Part two focuses on the game, the rules and basic plays, errors, strategies, and everything related to the mechanics of the game. ¬†Part three dives into subjects like where to play, choosing a casino, the best kind of dealer, where you can play in the States and Canada.¬†The entire part four deals with the dealer (pun intended). Actually, I personally find this part very interesting because it’s usually an overlooked part of the game but it’s a very important part of the game in my opinion.¬†Part five teaches you how to Play Smart (without a system) and…

Blackjack: Everything You Need To Know About Blackjack From Beginner To Expert

Review of¬†Blackjack: Everything You Need To Know About Blackjack From Beginner To Expert Ok, whenever I see a book that says it covers EVERYTHING from beginner stuff to expert stuff I start to suspect that it’s going to deliver anything good at all. It’s a big statement and mission to freaking cover EVERYTHING you need to know about any given thing in life in a book. But, this book delivers at least most of what it claims. It’s a great introduction book and, the writer Ian Dunross does kind of a good job in organizing the book. The book starts with the history of Blackjack and has an 8-page chapter for Introduction to Blackjack. It then goes to explain the Blackjack Rules, Math and Odds, Strategy, and Tips and then shares some common playing mistakes. Personally naming a chapter ‘Card Counting – Ultimate Secret to Blackjack success’ sounds a little fishy to me, but if that floats your boat, this book has a good chapter on that too. The author then goes on to explore myths and superstitions about blackjack and gives you direction for playing online. This does not feel like EVERYTHING one needs to know about blackjack, but…

Hey Guys, this one is a no brainer! If you are learning Blackjack and could use a little help, this little chart can help you improve your Blackjack chops. It is simply a chart that gives the best possible move for any given scenario at a blackjack game. If you get anxious when you’re playing in Vegas and sometimes don’t know what to do when a grouchy ¬†blackjack dealer mocks you in front of other people or simply acts rude, you might practice with this chart beforehand so you will know what to do in every scenario possible at a Blackjack game. This chart isn’t a miracle maker though, it won’t help you win all the time, but it will sure make you look less stupid and hopefully play smarter in the future. Granted, you can make an excel chart and print it on a piece of paper right now, but it’s dirt cheap and made of better material than shitty printer paper.
